TravelMatchr is a connection platform that helps travelers find hosts and travel companions. The service is operated by Nuno Aires, the data controller for all personal data processed through this platform.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following data when you use TravelMatchr:

• Account data — email address, phone number, name, date of birth, profile photo
• Profile data — nationality, country of residence, travel preferences, languages, bio
• Usage data — match requests sent and received, messages, search filters used
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps

3. Why we collect it

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Create and manage your account
• Show your profile to compatible hosts and travelers
• Facilitate match requests and in-app messaging
• Send transactional notifications (OTP, match accepted, new message)
• Prevent abuse and ensure platform safety

Legal basis: contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following sub-processors:

• Supabase — database and authentication (EU region)
• Vercel — hosting and edge network
• Resend — transactional email delivery

Your profile information (name, photo, bio, preferences) is visible to other authenticated users of the platform as part of the matching service.

5. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@travelmatchr.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are based in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request erasure of your data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

7. Cookies

TravelMatchr uses essential cookies for authentication (Supabase session tokens) and your language preference. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are used. You can dismiss our cookie banner to acknowledge this.

8. Age requirement

TravelMatchr is for users aged 18 and over. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We reserve the right to suspend accounts found to be in violation of this requirement.
